Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the terminology of cycling domain, in the road cycling mode, reflecting on the equivalence degrees between the terms denominating the main parts of road bike in Portuguese and French. It is therefore adopted the theoretical and methodological principles of Terminology, especially the Communicative Theory of Terminology (CTT) and the criteria for delimiting the terminology in question. In addition, this study is based on Bilingual Terminology concerning the criteria to establish the equivalence degrees maintained between the studied terminological units. As main results, it was found that the equivalence degrees between these terms are mostly total. There are, however, seven cases of partial equivalence since it was not considered that these terms have exactly the same use in the field of road cycling in Brazil and France.
