And there? The subject outside and inside the scene of his speech

Abstract

The purpose of this article is a certain statement by President Jair Bolsonaro about the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout Brazil. It was delivered in the first two months of that period. Methodologically, we proceed to the analysis of this one-off speech event in order to describe the act of enunciation performed in the first person. We will consider as source of the statement in focus in the article both what was shown on news programs, and what was reported on daily newspaper sites. The operative concepts that must govern the analytical procedure are those of parresia, dramatic discourse and performative speech act. The theoretical guiding thread is that of Michel Foucault. The objective is to produce a theoretical and analytical essay about the act of enunciating as a function of a certain process of subjectification, crossed by the political order, which supports governance practices in force in the country. The expected result is a study that can contribute to new analytical procedures aligned to the foucaultian perspective of discourse.
